Mommy saw a Hawk sitting on the top of a tree just outside of Center City Philadelphia, so Mommy snapped a picture as best as she could with her phone of the Hawk... then all of a sudden a Squirrel starts climbing that tree trunk towards the Hawk.
I think "Harvey" the Squirrel was a little too curious what the Hawk was (being that it is rare to see a Hawk in the city) -- and climbed all the way to the top of the trunk to get a better look at it.
Mommy started making stomping noises and making a weird bird call to try to get the squirrel away from the Hawk.
Thank dog the Hawk knew that "Squirrel Appreciation Day" was this week on January 21st, or Harvey the Squirrel might not have been so lucky to get away!
Here is a video, too bad Mommy can't zoom in the video with her phone, butt you get the idea. (When Mommy screams in the video :33 second mark -- that's when "Harvey" the Squirrel turned around and the Hawk flapped his wing.)
Don't worry, the Squirrel survives! Mommy stood there a few minutes after the video, and the Hawk still stood on the top of the tree and didn't go after the squirrel.

P.S. Can you just imagine the conversation the Squirrel had with the Hawk. It probably went something like this...
Squirrel -- Good morning, my fine feathered friend! You aren't from around here! My name is Harvey the Squirrel and it is my pleasure to welcome you to Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.
Hawk -- WTH (What the Hawk!)
Squirrel -- If you like, I can give you a tour of the city. The main thing I want to point out to you, is that big tall dark statue on the top of City Hall is of William Penn. Let me warn you, that no matter how much you beg him for peanuts -- he never ever has given me one.
Hawk -- You are nuts!
OMD OMS OMH OMD that is amazing.... the video was super... we could see and hear all the action... UNBELIEVABLE... Squirrels truly are NUTS... We think the hawk must have already had Breakfast or ... well, you get our drift...

wow I bet that was Super Squirrel who was brave enough to have a small talk with Mr. Hawk.... like wolf and lamb or cat&mouse... sometimes crazy things can happen, huh?

That was a very exciting video! One time a hawk came to our deck and they he grabbed up one of our other birdies and flew off with it in his claws. Mom said that was a sad thing to see so we are glad you warned the squirrel even though we don't like squirrels.
