Temporary Screen Door

Mommy and Grandma like to sit in the backyard after dinner  -- butt us dogs like to walk back and forth going inside and outside and inside and outside.

The bugs seem to only know how to go inside the house. They don't seem to understand the going outside part. 

So, Aunt T (Mommy's sister) got us a Screen Door for our BackYard Door to keep the bugs out of the house.  It's 2 panels of screen connected together in the middle by magnets (velcro holds it to the frame of the door.) 

Us dogs were a little scared of it at first, butt, Grandma grabbed us by the butt and pushed us in and out of the house when we were afraid -- and then we weren't afraid of it anymore!

It seemed to be working fine for a couple of days, until Mommy went Grocery Shopping! 

Mommy is a little paranoid of us running out the front door since there is no fence or gate in the front of the house. (We only have the back yard fenced in.)  So, when she comes back with the Groceries, she usually lets us in the backyard so that way she can go in and out of the front door carrying the groceries!

Mommy forgot about the new screen door.  She didn't remember that we like to jump at the backdoor when she is carrying in the groceries. 

And I think you can figure out what happened next.

The note says Benji did it (butt everyone knows I ripped it.)

Mommy hurried up and fixed it with Duct Tape. The duct tape has been holding for the most part.

We will see if Mommy will actually sew it back together again.  NOT!

Oh, and that pattern of Duct Tape is called "Hound's Tooth."  Seemed appropriate to use that particular Duct Tape color, eventhough our paws seemed to do all that damage.

Aliens ate the Peanut Butter ???

Can you believe Mommy actually conducted a "Breath Test" on us dogs after she found the jar of Peanut Butter on the floor with the lid chewed off!    (She actually got down on hands and knees and sniffed our breath -- Mommy said, "I'll never do that again!!!!")

My (Lassie's) breath showed no trace of Peanut Butter -- butt, Benji's breath had a tint of something.  Mommy couldn't positively identify the tint on his breath as Peanut Butter -- so there was reasonable doubt to accuse us dogs of eating it.

These photos prove the little green Aliens did it.  (See how far away Ben and I are from the crime scene!)

Pee-mail Fire Hydrant !!!

We received our Fire Hydrant in the mail!  Thank you so much to the Cowspot Dogs!!!  We entered Reilly & Denny's Pee-mail Competition a couple of weeks ago (remember when we sniffed baby bunny peemail in those 2 clover flower patches in the yard), and we won first prize in the contest. 

We opened up the package (with a little help from Mommy's oldest niece) and it was like it was snowing in our living room.  The little white pellets from the packing Styrofoam were snowing all over the carpet - it was so exciting!

The first thing I (Lassie) did when it came out of the box, was try to chew the top knob of it - try to pick it up and tell Mommy where to put our brand new Fire Hydrant.  We know we want it in the yard, butt aren't sure where to put it.  So, temporarily it is by our Tomato Garden.  It looks nice there, maybe it will stay in that spot.

In other news.... Mommy noticed Benji starting lifting his leg to pee instead of squatting.  Instead of squatting a peeing a river in one area of the lawn -- Benji is lifting his leg and squirting a little on the bush, a little on the tree, a little on the bottom step of the deck...  (Grandma said, she liked when he used to squat and just pee in one spot of the yard.)  Congratulations to Big Ben -- You are a Man now   - You are a Big Dog now, eventhough Mommy still calls you her Puppy!

Looks like that Fire Hydrant is going to get a lot of use in our yard now!  None of us have christened it yet though -- at least not that Mommy knows of.

We are so happy with the Fire Hydrant!   (Mommy kept pushing the wrong buttons on the camera to turn the flash off -- she wasn't able to figure it out in time while we were in this position.)

Mommy pulled weeds on Father's Day and she tied up the Cucumbers to those poles.  We even noticed some little cucumbers starting to grow.  How exciting! (This picture was taken on the Friday after Father's Day - the garden was planted on Mother's Day in May.)

True Color Thursday - Purple and Orange

Purple and Orange is the color combo for True Color Thursday and we had 2 weeks to come up with photos for this color combo.  We decided to post our pictures a week early.

A new Walmart store opened near us.  Mommy went looking to find something purple and orange to photograph for the challenge!!!     They had a special kind of opening celebration over the weekend at the new store, and Mommy and Grandma met so many characters there!

Mommy wasn't sure who this was, but then figured it out once she saw the potato chip bag.

This was that happiest cookie Mommy ever saw.  He was so bouncy, so the picture is very blurry!

This is probably the biggest chipmunk ever!!!! Us dogs need to be on alert -- never saw a giant chipmunk like this before!

Even though he's in the cat family; we still think this Cheetos guy is cool!

Goldfish!!! We love those crackers, especially when Mommy's nieces and nephews drop them when they are eating - and we help clean up!

Can you believe all the balls they sell at this store.  The display reaches the ceiling!  Mommy was hoping a purple ball would be next to an orange one in this display, she took a picture and decided to look closer at the picture later.   Aha!  There was a purple and orange ball next to each other.  (It's the 2 balls on the bottom right.)

OK!  Mommy cheated!  Since there weren't any kids in the line for the balloon animals at the time;  Mommy asked the nice lady in the clown costume could she make Mommy something with a Purple and Orange Balloon.  Mommy told her that she is a big kid at heart!  The nice clown lady made Mommy a perfect heart balloon wand using purple and orange balloons! That was so nice of the nice clown lady to make a balloon for Mommy, even-though Mommy isn't a kid!  

Mommy came straight home and showed us her balloon. Here we are rushing at Mommy!  We were so excited to see her Purple and Orange Heart Balloon Wand.

We even chased Mommy around the grass trying to see the Balloon Wand up close!

We almost popped the wand -- but we didn't!

Wordless Wednesday

Pee-mail

Weeks ago, when Mommy mowed our lawn she purposely  left 2 patches of white clover flowers (weeds) in the middle of the yard.  She felt sorry for the Big Bunny Rabbit who visits our yard and thought he/she might be hungry.  So, she didn't want to mow down all the clover flowers so, she left some for the Big Bunny Rabbit.

This is our first reaction to seeing those 2 flower patches in the middle of our yard.  I know -- we were speechless!  You know how hard it is to make a Sheltie speechless!  I yap at everything -- this speechless reaction was a first for me!

I couldn't even look at Mommy, I was so ashamed to have a lawn mowed this way!  What would the neighbor's dogs think!

In any case, now we had 2 areas of the lawn to focus our attention to.  We set out on a mission to investigate the patches.  We had each others backs (get it, we are standing back to back) as we both searched our patches to see if the Big Bunny Rabbit actually visited these 2 patches and left us any pee-mail!

In this picture, I am telling Benji to stay here at this patch while I go to the other one.

In this picture, I arrived at my patch and I signaled over to Benji to start checking pee-mail by his patch.

This is Benji checking pee-mail by the 1st clover flower patch.  He smelled something gooood!

Here I am (Lassie) checking pee-mail by the 2nd clover flower patch.  I smelled something interesting too.   Here is what we determined when comparing notes...

Mommy was able to take a picture of a Baby Bunny Rabbit by one of the patches. 

Here's a picture of a Baby Bunny Rabbit a different day -- maybe it's the same bunny --do all bunnies look a-like!   (Mommy knows there are at least 2 Baby Bunny Rabbits because she saw 2 at the same time.)  Guess the Big Bunny Rabbit is actually a Mommy Bunny Rabbit!!!

It's been several weeks, and the Baby Bunnies are older now!  They are hopping around to the neighbors yards and eating grass and weeds all over the place.  So, Mommy decided to pull out "CLIFFORD" the Big Red Lawn Tractor and mow down the flower patch weeds, since the flowers were pretty much either eaten or dried up anyway.   (Don't worry, she purposely left a little patch in another spot in the yard -- but it's not as obvious as the original ones.)

(What -- like your human peeps haven't named their lawn tractors!!!!)  

We have spotted the Baby Bunny Rabbits several times in our yard over the past few weeks and have been chasing them under the deck and behind the shed.  It's a good thing we checked pee-mail, or we probably wouldn't have known they were around -- they are sneaky little things -- and fast too!!!

True Color Thursday - Red Hearts

The color for True Color Thursday is Red Hearts.  Mommy went with her nephew to "Sesame Place" in PA on his class trip (and she brought along our picture too).  Mommy's nephew was the one who spotted that Telly  has a "red heart" tongue on the sign in the parking lot.

No red hearts in this picture, butt we liked it and took a picture of it.  Big Bird is the yellow one up front (on the right), the big one is Snuffy, Elmo is in red, and Cookie Monster is on the left in this photo.

Mommy took a picture of us at the "Sunny Day Carousel".  That's Big Bird at the top with the Sesame Street sign.  He spun around in a circle.  It was so dizzy watching Big Bird spin and the Carousel spin too!   The green monster  is Oscar the Grouch and you can kinda see Bert behind us.

Mommy zoomed too close for this picture -- there were a lot of flags on this sign at the "Grover's World Twirl" ride.

We looked so hard at this sign in the park for Red Hearts.  Unfortunately we couldn't find any, but we kept on searching this area.

Hooray!  We found a red heart on Oscar the Grouch's tongue at the "Grover's World Twirl" ride. For this ride, you sit in the teacup and you can spin it around as fast as you can, if you want.   We tried to spin fast -- but Mommy is a wimp!

OK we cheated for this photo.  We added a "red heart" to block someone's face who was standing by Grover.

We actually got to meet Cookie Monster!  He tried to eat our hot dog and chicken nuggets when he walked by our table.  But he didn't eat them.  Cookie Monster is pawsome!!!!    Mommy's nephew was a little scared of Cookie Monster - so we couldn't focus too much on red hearts after this point-- butt we are sure there were more red hearts in the park somewhere!  We went on tons of rides, just no photos of us to show you.  You'll just have to believe us.

We saw a pink heart balloon at the very end of the day at the Parade where all the "Sesame Street" characters sing and dance.  The heart balloon wasn't red, butt we took a picture of it anyway.   We had fun looking for red hearts!   Mommy's nephew says he wants to go back to Sesame Place -- he had fun on the rides!!!

True Color Thursday - Green / Nature

True Color Thursday is all about the color Green.  It could be something that is the color Green or it could be something that was nature related.  The Challenge wasn't too specific. First, we wanted to show you our Tomato Garden pictures from Week 3 and Week 4.  So, here it is at Week 3.

Garden at Week 3 -- the Fence Weave is finished.  Mommy still has to clip in some of the bottom.  She got tired of weaving so she isn't going to do a checkerboard the other way.  (Maybe next year.)

Mommy made this sign out of duct tape for the garden.  She used a green duct tape on the bottom.  Not sure how the sign will hold up in the weather -- but it looks nice for now. (That's a butterfly on the right.)

Mommy's nephew threw our frisbee with the green border on the roof of the house.  (He did it by accident -- he was so upset and was apologizing like crazy for it.)  Don't worry Mommy's brother-in-law got it down with the ladder and a stick.

Look what Mommy came across in front of our house, hanging on the side of our deck.  A frog.  It was brown, not green.  Benji and I were in the house, butt we heard Mommy talking to Grandma all about the Frog.  Guess what Mommy said...?

Mommy said -- maybe it's my Prince Charming .  Then she said to Grandma -- should I kiss it? Maybe he will turn into a Prince.   Grandma didn't know what to say.  Then all we heard was Mommy making kissing noises (very loudly) outside.   Ben and I barked like crazy.  We were saying... DON'T DO IT MOMMY!    Then Mommy said, don't worry I didn't kiss it.   (Thank goodness -- we love having Mommy's undivided attention, so a boyfriend would just get in our way!)

Here is a picture of our Tomato Garden at week 4  (June 6th).  She took the pictures after 8pm so they are dark.  Besides -- you can't see all of our GREEN WEEDS growing in the garden in this lighting!  :)    Mommy forgot all about the New Jersey Tomatoes box she got.  So she took a picture of it in front of our Tomato Garden (since we live in NJ.)

Mommy got the box when she bought a few plants from the little business that sells stuff on the side of the highway.  She doesn't mind paying a little extra money at the little business, since it's a local place and she tries to support them every once in a while.  (It's only at those bigger Home Improvement Stores, where she looks for bargains.)

This is one of the plants that Mommy bought at the local place that gave the NJ Tomatoes box to carry it home in.  It's not a Black-eyed Susan plant -- but it's similar.  Not sure the name -- butt, I'm sure you bloggers know it.  It's supposed to come up every year -- I think.

Now this is the picture of the 50 cents plant that I told you about that time when Mommy got all mad and was having a bad day - on Rainbow color Thursday.  This was from the big Home Improvement Store and they honored the sticker price that they put on the plant by mistake at 50 cents.

Can't wait to see if it blooms next year.

PS  Benji has Allergies.  Mommy noticed on Memorial Day Weekend that Benji was scratching his nose  and ears.  Benji had so much wax in his ears.  She cleaned them.  And the next day there was just as much wax in them again.  She took Benji to a new vet that has longer hours since the vet we usually go to was booked up.   The new vet is so nice!   We loved seeing a statue of St. Francis in the lobby of the new vet.   Anyway, the vet gave medicine and ear drops and Benji is feeling better now.    (There was a lot of pollen coming down over Memorial Day weekend.  Everything was yellow outside.  So, it wasn't too surprising when the vet said it's allergies.)  We will keep looking out for Benji -- the vet said if Benji is having Allergies in January or something like that -- then it might be a food allergy.  But the vet thinks it was because we had a warm winter and allergies are bad now.
