1) I need to apologize because Mommy hasn't had time this week to help me visit blogs. I feel so bad because everyone always has time to write me such nice comments -- and this week I didn't get a chance to visit. I think Mommy only helped me read about 2 posts all week long -- she was so busy. Sorry blog land! (Mommy has been so stressy at work, and even brought work home with her to do - and the boss didn't even appreciate her working at home to meet deadlines -- Boo!)
---------------
2) Let me tell you how the weekend started. Well, on Friday it was getting late and Mommy wasn't home from work yet. So, I kept bothering Mommy's niece to text Mommy on the cell phone where they were. See, Mommy's sister and Mommy both work in Philadelphia but live in NJ, so they drive to work in the same car together. (Mommy's sister drives, and Mommy is the passenger.)
So, Mommy texted me this picture and said she was by the Liberty Bell (Mommy's niece knew that was in Philadelphia.) Mommy said there is some sort of scaffolding near the mid section of Independence Hall with a drawing of the building on the scaffolding - it looks a little wierd. (Oh, and you can't see the Liberty Bell from this picture, but it is in the building on the right. )
Independence HallThen Mommy sent me this picture of the Mint. (That is in Philadelphia too.) Mommy said they don't make Mint Candies in the Mint -- they just make paper money stuff. (At first I was excited to see the building with the word "Mint" on it -- then after Mommy explained it to me when she got home -- I thought the building sounded boring!)
U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. There were more pictures on the ride back home to NJ - but I just wanted to share some of them with you. (Thought that was kinda neat how they communicated with each other using cell phone photos.)
2. I only read about 2 blog posts this weekend but saw at some point Mango the Mastiff asked dogs to share a picture of what is on your dining room table. I made Mommy grab the camera and she took a picture of the table. The only interesting things on the table were Mommy's nephew's Snoopy toy and his bag of Goldfish pretzels.
What's on your dining room table photo for Mango.
------------------------3. Ant's invaded our house this morning!!! Well, it was those little ants -- and boy was Mommy mad at those ants. I was the hero of the day, naturally of course, and made sure all of the ants were gone!
See, when Mommy got up and noticed them around 5:30 in the morning, she quickly was trying to sweep them up and carry them outside in the dust pan. She had to stomp on a few of them, but Mommy did her best to try to remove them with a broom and dust pan without killing them.
Mommy figured out what the ants were after. It was a crumb of Grandma's Apple Cake that somehow got pushed on the floor under the oven. So, I think it's Grandma's fault that the ant's came because she makes a really delicious Apple Cake!
I actually knew there was a crumb of the Apple Cake under the stove. See, I am really good on clean up committee, and I saw there was a crumb of the cake on the floor near the bottom of the stove the other day, and somehow when I was reaching it with my paw -- it kinda got pushed under the stove. I don't know how that happened. Maybe the cake kinda jumped under the stove on it's own! I won't admit to pushing the crumb under the stove with my paw-- I'm innocent!
So, when Mommy was battling the ants with the broom and dustpan -- she found the crumb of the cake and figured out that's what the problem was.
So, when the coast was clear and Mommy swept all the ants outside and washed the floor in the kitchen, I decided I was the hero of the day because the house was clear of the ants, and went outside to see what Mommy was doing.
She put the kitchen carpet on the back deck! She wanted to vacuum it and make sure no ants were on it, so she shook it and vacuumed it and shook it again!
Mommy looked silly vacuuming the kitchen carpet outside on the deck -- but at least the carpet matches the new deck color.
I examined the rug to make sure it was "Ant-Free"so I determined it was safe to take the carpet back to the kitchen!
Inspecting the rug to make sure it was Ant - Free!
A Sheltie's Work is never done!(On the bright side, if I wasn't on clean up committee 24/7, imagine just how many more ants would be all over their kitchen!)
---------------4. To end the weekend Mommy, Grandma, and Mommy's sister's family etc... went to a birthday party in Philadelphia. (I had to stay home.) Somehow they ended up getting stuck in traffic in the middle of an Ethnic Day Parade or something. At least Mommy think's that what that was -- at one point there were even horses in the street.
Mommy said they stood out like a sore thumb because their car wasn't blasting any music and they weren't waving a giant flag, and no one was sitting on the hood or roof of their car while it was in motion.
People sitting on the roof of a moving vehicle during the parade (or whatever holiday they were celebrating.)At one point a guy on a motorcycle decided to burn rubber right in front of their car. The guy on the motorcycle stood so his motorcycle didn't move forward, but the back tire was spinning so fast there was all this smoke coming from the tire. The guy proceed to take bows while other people applauded him.
Mommy was thankful no one got hurt!
(Mommy grew up in Philly, so she is kinda used to this behavior, especially when it is an Ethnic Day.) What made things the worst is that the Police blocked off all the side roads, so everyone was forced to drive in this mini-parade (or whatever that was).
So, it took Mommy forever to get home.
Mommy is glad she is finally home in NJ and is helping me with this blog post!
I hope to get around to reading everyone's blog posts soon! Have a great week!
