Benji and the Bush

Once upon a time in the cold season of winter,

there was a dog named Benji who would scratch his face around a bush and linger.

 

Mommy would yell at Benji to stop scratching,

but Benji was stubborn and kept scratching and made his eye look raw and chapping.

Mommy told the vet of this evergreen bush that Benji's face would rub up,

The vet said the bush might contain oils that Benji was allergic to, so block it off fur the pup.

 

 

Mommy put up a fence as horrible in sight,

To try to block off the bush to make Benji alright.

 

Benji was determined and snuck his nose thru the fence,

To scratch his face against the bush when not in Mommy's presence!

 

A week ago, in Springtime, Benji's itchy allergies started getting bad,

That's when we determined the bushes must go, to help the poor little lad.

 

We hope eliminating these bushes will help Benji get better.

So he will be better from allergies in all sorts of weather.

 

Mommy's brother-in-law came over and chopped down the bush.

Boy was that a project to do, Mommy said the clean up was big pain in the tush!

 

 

 

 

No more beating around the bush!  Flower pots cover up what's left of the bushes.

P.S. Hopefully taking down these bushes will help make Benji's allergies a little better.  Oak pollen could also play a role in Benji's allergies.  The bushes are right under 2 oak trees.  And any oak pollen that lands in the bush would be right at Benji's eye level if he rubbed against it.  (Tree pollen is bad in our neck of the woods right now.)

Research also showed male Spreading Yew bushes could cause allergies in dogs and could be poisonous to dogs if they eat it. 

So, for a number of reasons, we decided to get rid of these 2 bushes to make our yard safer fur us pets.
