Let me explain...
It was a super hot day yesterday -- like 97 or so.
We ate dinner (sloppy joes), then all of the sudden we turn on the news after dinner - and the news people were all saying -- take cover, a tornado warning is in effect.
And then the power went out just like that!
And the storm arrived!
Nasty winds, Lightning and Thunder galore!
Mommy knew where flashlights were, so she searched in the dark and got them -- however -- you know the batteries don't work when you need it -- in both of the flashlights she found. GRRR!
So, Mommy knew she bought a brand new pack of batteries.... and of course the one time you need to open a pack of new batteries in a jiffy -- the packaging is made of some sort of super tectonic, ultra sticky, permanent, gorilla glue -- that by the time Mommy got the package open -- batteries went spilling out all over the kitchen table.
Mommy managed to find four of the batteries on the table in the dark, and managed to put the batteries into the flashlight the correct way! Kudos to Mommy!
So, with one flashlight working -- we were now prepared.
Us dogs were so scared of the storm.
But Benji is a trooper, and eventhough he was scared, he managed to smile for the picture that Mommy took of him hiding in the bathroom in the dark. (We lightened this picture so you can see Benji.)
At sunset, as the storm was finishing, the sky turned an orange color. This picture doesn't do it justice. It was a pretty site at the end of a nasty storm. Mommy said, when you were in the house, all of the windows glowed an orange color. So, that's why Mommy tried to take a picture of the sky. I guess she should have taken a picture of the window glowing instead. oh well.
Glad that storm is over!

P.S. The weather people are trying to figure out if a tornado hit the Deptford, NJ area. That city is north of us. Scary.
My sister lives in deptford and her street is a mess. Big trees down everywhere. Her kids are on their way up here for a few days, until everything gets cleaned up and the power gets turned back on.

That sounds like quite a storm. Glad you're safe. SHE knows all about packaging.....and flat batteries.
ReplyDeleteOMD OMD those HORRID Battery Packages... THEY are DANGEROUS... SomeDoggy needs to invent Somethingy Better so folks can get into them FAST and EASY in an emergency like you all had!!!

Glad you are OK. Saw on TV new that some of the areas in the Northeast will be without power for about 5 days. Only good thing about that is that it is not freezing and lots of snow around.

ReplyDeleteI am glad you are ok, we had one of those storm things too. So far I don't seem to mind them, I just slept through it. That made Mommy very happy but I don't know why.

ReplyDeleteCrikey ...... that all sounds terrifying. I'm glad you're all ok and safe. Mum laughed at the battery bit. she ALWAYS has trouble with packaging these days. Why do they make it so hard?? Hope your Mom's got all the torches ready in case the lights go out again.

Night before sunset and needing flashlights ~ that had to be a really dark storm. Glad you were safe. Lee says the heck with flashlights we keep oil burning lamps and candles in each room. If the wind blows them over inside well the house is probably done for anyhow before the fire burns it to the ground. We have been very lucky no severe storms near us this year knock on wood. Benji had the right idea when you don't have a basement head for the bathroom. Que Sera, Sera

That sounds terrifying! I'm not a fan of regular storms, so a tornado warning sounds awful! Glad you are all safe now! Your Mommy is very talented for finding the torches and batteries in the dark!
