That's eggactly what Mommy needed

Thank you all for your wonderful comments you gave on our last post where Mommy felt all super stressed from work, (she even broke out into hives). 

Mommy is feeling much better now thanks to all your comments.  The comments were eggactly what she needed! 

We even got to supervise Mommy while de-stressing over the weekend, and she made "pysanky" with her nieces and nephews.  Pysanky are Ukrainian Easter Eggs.

Mommy decided to take pictures of the process of how to make Pysanky. (I'm surprised Mommy even wanted to show you her artwork -- she always says how horrible the eggs look.)

1. The supplies are a candle, beeswax, and a stylus (called a "kitska") it's a wooden stick with a metal funnel on the top.  It's similar to how a hot glue gun works.  You have to put pieces of wax in the back part of the funnel, and it melts when you warm it over the candle, then you draw on the egg with the kitska.  (It's also similar to how ink comes out of a pen, but you have to keep loading more and more wax into the back of the stylus constantly.)

 

2. Since the egg is white, cover whatever you want to be white with wax. Here Mommy made some sort of star shape.

3. Next she dipped the white egg in Yellow Dye.

4. Then since the egg is Yellow.  She drew whatever she wanted to be yellow with the kitska.  You can see, she made a checkerboard pattern and an outline of flower petals with wax. (So, that stuff is gonna be yellow.)

5. She dipped the egg in Pink Dye. She was still kinda feeling stressy so she used a cheating method of putting the wax onto the egg.  She dipped the tip of the kitska directly into the melting wax of the candle instead of loading wax in the back.  So, the wax appears lighter than before because it's a different kind of wax. ( If you can tell, she put wax inside the petals of the flower and covered the rest of the checkboard with wax.)

6. She dipped the egg in red and wrote a top secret message on the bottom of the egg.  (You can see what she wrote in one of the pictures to follow.)

7. She dipped the egg into the final color a purple/blue color. And then it was all done, didn't need anymore wax put on it. (Do you see us supervising in the photo.)

8. Time to take off the wax.  She held the egg to the candle to melt the wax.  Be careful not to burn your fingers or the egg, Mommy! Don't worry she took her time and didn't burn anything.

9. Here is the completed Pysanka. (Pysanka is the singular version of the word Pysanky.)

10. Look it's the top secret message she wrote at the bottom of the egg in red.  It says Lassie Benji and a pawprint.

 

I pawsonally think the top secret message was the best part of the egg!
